Young Artist Exibition at ComCenter Gallery
ComCenter Lakewood Ranch is dedicating its gallery walls to honor the young artists from Braden River High School and Lakewood Ranch High School. Students have been invited to submit two original works of art of any size. The works will be judged by Professional Artist Joe Palotas. Eight awards will be given for Best in
Show, First, Second, and Third Place, and four Merit Awards.
ComCenter Lakewood Ranch has been sponsoring art shows in its gallery for five years. Typically, there are four or five shows per year. Shows have been produced by The Art Center of Manatee, The Art Center of Sarasota, Ringling School of Art and a number of independent art groups.
This is the first time that ComCenter has sponsored a Young Artist Exhibition. Forty two students have submitted their works. A special celebration and awards ceremony will be held Friday, June 10 from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM.
Says Bernard Croghan, President of ComCenter: “We have had many great shows, but I have to say that this is the most exciting. This might be the first formal exhibition for some of these students. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to present their dreams to the public in a formal setting. It takes courage to “put it out there.” There is some excellent work here. We applaud every artist. Every one is a winner. We will do this again next year and next, and next.”
The exhibition will be available for viewing until August 5. The public is welcome to enjoy the gallery from 9 to 4:30 Monday through Friday.
